A woman who jumped into a subway tunnel survived after three subway cars passed over her at around 4 pm on Thursday in Beijing.
The jump took place at the Guomao Station of metro Line One. One witness surnamed Li said the woman suddenly jumped toward the rail, two to three meters in front of the incoming subway cars.
Witnesses cried out and heard the subway brake immediately. After three subway cars passed over the woman and the train came to a full stop, the woman stood up and returned to the platform.
Two metro staff workers and police soon came to the scene and seized the woman. A spokesperson for the Beijing metro said after the incident screen doors will be installed along the platform at metro Line One stations as soon as possible.
