The mother of a 2-year-old trapped in a car prevented firefighters from smashing windows to rescue her, the official micro blog of Beijing firefighting authorities said on Thursday.
The Beijing police hotline received a report about the trapped girl at about 1 pm on Wednesday and immediately sent firefighters to the spot.
But as soon as they arrived the mother refused to allow them to damage the luxury vehicle.
The firefighters had to arrange for a locksmith to come to take part in the rescue.
The girl was rescued.
