The chief officer of a police station in Anxi county, Fujian province, has been arrested on suspicion of attempting to rape a female subordinate, Today's Morning News reported on Monday.
The officer of Xiping police station, surnamed Chen, is alleged to have attempted to rape a junior colleague, surnamed Lin, an 18-year-old auxiliary policewoman. The incident is alleged to have taken place on Aug 21 after several policemen and policewomen had been drinking alcohol together.
The chief police officer is alleged to have invited the junior policewoman to his dormitory above the police station, where the attack is said to have happened.
Lin claims that she struggled with Chen, who finally abandoned his attempt to rape her.
Later on Aug 28, Lin's parents reported the attack to the county public security bureau and posted details of the case online that night. Chen was arrested on Sept 6 after investigations conducted by the county public security bureau and county Party discipline committee. The case is still under investigation.
