Man detained for family murder

KUNMING, September 14 -- A man has been detained for allegedly killing a family of five on August 27 in Yunnan Province, local police said on Saturday.
Five members of the Zhang family, a husband and wife, daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter, were found dead on August 28 at their home in Mengla County in the Dai Autonomous Prefecture of Xishuangbanna. Xishuangbanna police have set up a special team to investigate the killings.
The suspect surnamed Ran, who was the victim Zhang's brother-in-law, was arrested by the police a week ago. The police also seized a gold necklace and cash at Ran's home.
Police investigation said Ran confessed to kill the family for money at late night on August 27. The case is under further investigation.
