The largest-scale meteor shower of the 21st century, Giacobinids, is ready for show about 8:00 on Thursday evening, Dahe Daily reported.
It is predicted that this year's Giacobinids will be the most spectacular since 2000, with more than 100 meteors shooting across the sky per hour. Unlike Leonids, which was 71km/s, Giacobinids gives people more time to appreciate the scene with a much lower speed of 20km/s. Also, people can see another astronomical sight, Hop on Venus, while enjoying the shower. Anywhere in the Northern Hemisphere is good for watching.
There were two world-famous Giacobinids during the last century, in 1933 and 1946.
