A man in Sichuan province has been given compensation of 20,000 yuan ($3,280) by his employer and 110,000 yuan by an insurance company after accidentally killing his toddler son with a tractor, West China Metropolis Daily reported.
Tian Jian, a farmer in Xuyong county, was hired by Liu Yun, a fellow villager in the township of Zhendong, to drive his tractor, which was parked in the courtyard at Tian's house.
As Tian drove the tractor out of the courtyard to work for Liu one morning in March 2011 he did not realize his 2-year-old son was under a back wheel. The boy was killed in the accident.
As Liu had an insurance policy for his tractor, the insurance company paid Tian 110,000 yuan in line with its contract with Liu.
