An exhibition, A New Era, at Madrid's Conde Duque, a landmark building in the Spanish capital, introduces audiences to the developments in the Chinese art scene over the last three decades.

The 60 works on display, from the National Art Museum of China, exemplify the changing face of Chinese paintings, oil paintings, sculptures and photography, since the opening-up and reform.

"Although the exhibition may not cover the whole development of Chinese contemporary art, it embodies the changing times and the innovation of art in the past 30 years," says NAMOC's director Fan Di'an.

"We believe this exhibition will enable the Spanish people to comprehend the progress of development and the diverse presence of contemporary Chinese art and experience the vitality of contemporary Chinese society," he said.

The exhibition runs until Jan 5.
