China will prohibit sensational short TV shopping infomercials from next year, people.com.cn reported on Oct 30.
Short infomercials with exaggerated dubbing, words or actions will be banned from TV channels, said a notice from the State General Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television.
The regulation will take effect from Jan 1.
TV channels are also not allowed to broadcast short infomercials between 6 pm and midnight, according to the new regulation.
To better manage infomercials, TV channels are also required to check the qualifications of their producers before broadcasting.
Limits in time and length are set for those that can be aired in other periods.
