GUANGZHOU - A total of 214 suspects had been returned to China by the end of May from overseas since "Fox Hunt 2015" began in April, the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) said Tuesday.

Among the 214 fugitives involved in economic crimes, 27 are also faced with corruption charges.

Meng Qingfeng, chief of Fox Hunt, urged law enforcers at all levels to improve their investigating abilities and employ various methods including extradition, judicial procedure and internatinal cooperation with more flexibility in tracking down overseas fugitives.

Meng stressed that equal focus should be given to seizing suspects and retrieving illicit property, through the dual efforts of pursuit and persuasion.

"Fox Hunt 2015" is part of the "Skynet" operation and targets economic crime suspects, many of them corrupt officials of government departments and state-owned enterprises.

The latest campaign has once again made it clear that corrupt officials have no place to hide and will be hunted and punished even if they have fled to the ends of the earth.

In Fox Hunt 2014, 680 fugitives were repatriated to China.
