HONG KONG - Hong Kong took part in the London Book Fair for the first time as part of the celebration for the 15th anniversary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, in a hope to show the successful implementation of the "one country, two systems" to the world, the city government website reported Tuesday.

Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (London) Director-General Agnes Allcock opened the Hong Kong Pavilion at the fair Tuesday.

She said the market focus of this year's fair is China, and hoped Hong Kong's participation can show the world the successful implementation of the "one country, two systems" and the Basic Law, which have preserved Hong Kong's economic prosperity and social stability.

"Hong Kong, as a special administrative region of China, is participating actively in this year's fair, both to show our support and to showcase Hong Kong's thriving publishing industry," she said.

One of the highlights of the pavilion is a stand showing examples of the ingenuity and creativity of Hong Kong's publishing and printing companies, along with a mock Hong Kong tram people can board to take photos.

The fair runs from April 16 to April 18 at the Earls Court Exhibition Center in London.
