An enameled revolving vase

Anyone who remembers the Qianglong revolving vase that fetched a staggering $83.2 million in a London sale in 2010 will find this vase is another magnificent example of the same complicated technique. The Qianlong revolving vases combine many handicraft skills to perfection and very few exist today. The vase once belonged to George Salting (1835-1909) who was celebrated for collecting Qing ceramics. He didn’t go to Asia but accumulated his collection by splashing out a fortune at London and Paris auctions. By the time of his death, Salting had donated 1,405 Chinese ceramics to the V&A, together with copper wareand other antiquities
