Actor Zhang Mo is in hot water after he was detained for 13 days on Wednesday for allegedly taking drugs. And it's not the first time that he's been in trouble.
His father, actor Zhang Guoli, has shown his remorse and begged for the public to forgive his son, while his friend the director Feng Xiaogang has also made a mea culpa.
"I feel very sad," Feng said. "As Zhang Mo's uncle, I failed to discipline him strictly and I'm saying sorry to everyone, together with his father," the director posted on his micro blog. Zhang Mo was shooting Feng's film Looking Back to 1942, in Shanxi province, before the incident.
The second-generation actor has been in trouble before, for assaulting his girlfriend and various driving infractions.
Three of cross-talker Guo Degang's followers have been given administrative detentions and fines of 500 yuan ($80) for assaulting a photographer in January at Beijing Capital International Airport, according to China News.
The photographer and his driver were allegedly taking pictures of Guo when they were attacked by the comic-master's minions and had to be treated at hospital for their injuries.
Guo claimed he did not see the incident and added those involved were "part-time" props men, but in fact one of the miscreants was his agent Wang Hai and the other two were full-time employees, China News reported.
The trio have paid their fines but are appealing their administrative detentions.
It looks like Hong Kong singer Kelly Chen will be the first Asian celebrity to have a baby born in the Year of the Dragon. She is expected to give birth to a boy in late March or April.
At a recent personal appearance she admitted that she had gained 4.5 kg but had a cunning plan to ensure she didn't put on too much weight.
"I eat as much as my husband but because I'm worried that I might overeat, I stop eating when he does," she said.
Competing in the "dragon baby" stakes is former beauty queen Michelle Reis, who is pregnant with her second child after ovulation induction.
The 41-year-old is married to Hong Kong billionaire Julian Hui and gave birth to a boy, Jayden Max Hui, in February last year. She is said to be 11 weeks pregnant and media reports suggest she wants a girl this time around.
Someone keen not to put the cart before the horse, obviously, is "Heavenly King" Aaron Kwok, who has been dating model Lynn Xiong for five years. According to media reports, the singer is planning to wed in June before having children.
The 46-year-old Kwok has previously been quoted as saying that he intends to get married before 50 and have two kids.
Finally, even better news. Sister Phoenix - who is famous for being an ugly celebrity (perhaps unjustly) - is rumored to be giving up her day job as a manicurist in New York in order to become a porn star.
A Sina Weibo micro blog post suggested Phoenix will work for a Japanese video company and the erotic film will play in Japan and Hong Kong.
