Adele reportedly fears her home is haunted.
The 23-year-old 'Someone Like You' singer is said to have hired a female bodyguard to keep her company in the ten-bedroom house because of spooky goings-on.
According to The Sun newspaper, Adele told a friend: "I'm not rattling around here on my own. It gives me the creeps."
The source added that she got scared by, "hearing things that made her jump" at the £7million home, which comes complete with two swimming pools and a private chapel.
The Grammy Award-winning star is believed to be paying the woman £100,000 a year to stay at the house in Sussex, England - which used to be a convent - and to accompany her on her travels.
The source said: "Adele was so excited to be renting such a lavish property but it has not turned out as happily as it should have.
"She is convinced it is haunted. She knows about its religious history -- and it's a big place to be in on your own in the dead of night."
She has also taken on two more staff to guard the gates of her £15,000-a-month home after learning that a public footpath runs right past her front door.
The insider added: "She can see the funny side but she is a sensible girl and knows there is no point taking chances with her safety."
