Nick Cannon still can't believe his marriage to Mariah Carey is "real".

The 'America's Got Talent' host married the singer on the beach outside her home in the Bahamas on April 30 2008 and they have renewed their vows every year since, and Nick admits the ceremony helps him appreciate their union more.

He said: "We get married every year; it's our thing. I just have to keep doing it to make sure it's real!"

This year, the couple are planning an even bigger celebration because their twins Moroccan Scott and Monroe turn one on the same day, so the babies will be involved in the festivities, though Mariah and Nick are also setting aside quality time for one another.

Nick told Life & Style magazine: "It's gonna be big. So it's a family day.

"We'll celebrate with them during the day and just the two of us at night."

Nick has suffered a string of health problems this year and following his recent diagnosis of having the autoimmune disease lupus nephritis, he is particularly thankful for his family.

He said: "It goes to show you how much things can change. In tough times, you lean on family."
