Jessica Simpson's baby is "eating like a champ".
The singer-and-actress gave birth to daughter Maxwell Drew yesterday (01.05.12 ) and friends of Jessica revealed the 9lb 13oz baby already has a healthy appetite.
A source told US Weekly: "Maxwell is eating like a champ and has a big appetite. The birth went smoothly and Jessica is already up and walking around and bonding with her little girl.
"Everyone is marveling at what a natural Jessica is. She was born to be a mom!"
Jessica's family parents Joe and Tina and sister Ashlee were in the hospital for the baby's birth, along with her fiance Eric Johnson and his parents.
The source added: "That's how Jessica and Eric wanted it."
The couple -who have put their wedding on hold until after the birth - say becoming parents has been "the greatest experience" of their lives.
A posting on Jessica's website read: "Eric and I are elated to announce the birth of our baby girl, Maxwell Drew Johnson.
"We are so grateful for all the love, support and prayers we have received. This is been the greatest experience of our lives."
