Jessica Simpson's family are helping her adjust to becoming a mom.

The reality TV star gave birth to daughter Maxwell Drew - her first child with fiance Eric Johnson - on Tuesday (01.05.12) surrounded by her parents Joe and Tina, sister Ashlee and Eric's parents and sources close to the couple revealed their families are stepping in to help the new parents adjust to the change in their lives.

A source told US Weekly: "The family will be dedicating the rest of this week and most of next week to helping Jess recuperate and take care of the baby. Eric is super happy as well.

"Jessica is doing great and really happy. She's feeling well and relieved the baby is healthy.

"The baby is beautiful!"

'Fashion Star' mentor Jessica, 31, recently claimed creating a family is her greatest achievement and said she hoped she could live up to the example set by her own mother.

She wrote on her website: "Creating a family is the best thing I've done in my life, I really hope I can be half as good of a mom as my mom has been to me."
