Seventeen years after her tragic death from a severe asthma attack during a holiday in Thailand, more than 30 of Teresa Teng's classic songs will be revived at Beijing's Forbidden City Concert Hall by impersonator Sheng Yan. Resembling Teng in both appearance and voice, Sheng has earned the reputation as "the living Teng" and is widely regarded as one of the best Teng impersonators. According to Sheng, who came from a musical family in Shanghai, she started learning singing at 6 and has been singing Teng's songs for 10 years. During her upcoming Beijing concert, Sheng will perform a selection of Teng's best hits, such as When Will You Return and The Moon Represents My Heart.
7:30 pm, Sept 29. Forbidden City Concert Hall, inside Zhongshan Park, west of Tian'anmen Square, Beijing. 010-6559-8285, 6559-8306.
