Witnesses say the two entered into a dispute, and Tang accidentally set herself on fire while using a lighter.
An investigation into the case is underway, and Tang has to be kept in the hospital's observation room for seven days.
Based in Shanghai, SNH48 features dozens of female members around the age of 20.
It's the second sister group of popular Japanese idol girl group AKB48.
