Guizhou

Six die, two hurt in landslide

Six people died, two were injured and another five have been reported missing following a landslide on Monday in Guizhou province. It happened at 10:42 pm when construction workers were repairing a road damaged by an earlier landslide in Sinan county on Sunday evening, officials from the county government said on Tuesday. The landslide buried the workers and excavators which had been repairing the road.

Taiwan

Forum on trade held in Taipei

More than 200 merchants and officials from Taiwan and the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region attended a forum on Tuesday. The event was co-hosted in Taipei by the Taiwan Trade Center, the Importers and Exporters Association of Taipei and the Guangxi Commerce Department. Taiwan is paying more attention to enter new markets in Southeast Asia through Guangxi, a border region neighboring Southeast Asian nations.

Tianjin

Thai investment looks to China

China will become the biggest economy in the world in the future, Somsak Kitasuranont, president of the Thai National Assembly and speaker of the House of Representatives, said at a promotional exhibition in Tianjin on Tuesday. "For Thailand, with its geographical advantages, it will become the most important country to invest in among the ASEAN countries as ASEAN develops," he said. The exhibition was organized by the Tianjin Federation of Industry and Commerce and the Thai Embassy in China.
