The government of Wuhou district in Sichuan province's capital Chengdu, recently announced it will set up a global think tank by recruiting education specialists from around the world to serve local elementary education's internationalization and modernization.
The district is China's first pilot zone to research such an approach. Its government says that all 48 of Wuhou's public primary and middle schools will get at least one foreign teacher.
The education specialists, including foreigners and Chinese returning from overseas, will participate in designing the teaching and curricula.
