BEIJING - Banned Chinese Olympic weightlifting champion Liao Hui insisted on Friday that he was innocent after being told that he was suspended for four years for doping.

Liao appeared on a list of 10 doping offenders issued by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) and will be banned until September 30, 2014.

Liao, the 69kg class champion in the 2008 Olympic Games, was tested positive for the banned drug boldebolin in an out-of-competition check on September 2, 2010.

"According to the latest explanation by the World Anti-doping Agency, boldebolin could be produced by human body," Liao said in a statement sent to Xinhua News Agency.

"I also found irregularities in the storing, transport and testing of urine samples.

"In order to prove my innocence, I will bring the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport."
