HANGZHOU - Chinese star swimmers Sun Yang and Ye Shiwen have been awarded by their home province for their success at the London Olympic Games.

Sun, who claimed two gold medals in London and broke the world record in men's 1,500m freestyle, was named Zhejiang Model Worker and given 2.6 million yuan ($410,000).
Ye, who also won two gold in London, received the same title as well as 1.8 million yuan.

China won 38 gold medals, 27 silver and 23 bronze at the London Olympics to finish second behind the United States.
