Myanmar's NLD wins in by-elections

YANGON - Myanmar's Union Election Commission announced Monday that the opposition National League for Democracy (NLD) won a sweeping victory in Sunday's by-elections.
According to the initial election results announced on the state radio and television, of the 45 parliamentary seats available for contest, the NLD has won 40 seats including 35 seats of the House of Representatives, three seats of the House of Nationalities and two seats of region or state parliament.
