IRKUTSK - A total of 77 forest fires were registered in Russia's Siberia on Tuesday morning, covering more than 8,300 hectares, local media reported.
Among them, around 25 on more than 6,300 hectares had been localized, the Itar-Tass news agency reported.
Some 1,450 people and 239 units of machinery were involved in the fire-fighting.
The main causes of the wildfires are believed to be improper activities of local residents and dry grass fires on the croplands.
