CAIRO - Egypt's Interior Minister Assistant Mohamed Naguib decided Tuesday to transfer Mubarak's son Gamal from Molhak Mazraa prison to Mazraa prison to be with his father, official news agency MENA reported.
Naguib made the decision in response to an application submitted by Gamal and Alaa to be all in one prison with their father under the article of "reunion" of the prisons' law. Gamal' s demand was approved but Alaa's hasn't been determined yet.
On Saturday, the Cairo Criminal Court announced the verdicts for Mubarak and others. Mubarak and ex-interior minister Habib Adli were given life in jail over charges of killing protesters in the popular demonstration last year, while Mubarak's two sons and Adli's six aides were acquitted.
Mubarak was moved to the Tora Prison to serve his term after leaving the court. Molhak Mazraa prison and Mazraa prison are parts of the Tora Prison.
Alaa and Gamal still face a new trial over stock manipulation in a sale of national bank assets.
The verdicts have sparked new protests nationwide in the past few days.
