NEW DELHI - Seven pilgrims were killed and 10 others injured when a bus carrying them overturned at Umma village in the district of the eastern Indian state Bihar early Monday, reported Press Trust of India.

The incident came two days after over 50 were killed in a bus accident in the northern state of Himachal Pradesh on Saturday.  

The ill-fated bus was on its way to Nepal from Deoghar in Jharkhand in eastern India, when the driver lost control over the vehicle. The bus overturned killing the seven pilgrims on the spot.

The injured were admitted to a nearby government hospital, where condition of five was stated to be critical.

At least 110,000 people are killed each year on the road in India, according to official estimates. Reckless driving, overloading and bad road situation are the main reasons for road accidents.
