AL condemns violence in Syria: statement

CAIRO - The Arab League's (AL) on Wednesday condemned the continuous violence against Syrian civilians in a statement issued on Wednesday after holding its 138th regular meeting of foreign ministers in its headquarters in Cairo.
AL condemned using heavy weapons in the populated areas, considering the violence as crimes against humanity, and urged the UN Security Council to take necessary steps to refer the responsible people to the international justice, the statement said, noting that the violence has caused 2.5 million displaced people in Syria.
The statement also urged cooperation between the Syrian side and the UN-AL joint special representative for Syria Lakhdar Brahimi.
