BAGHDAD - Six people were killed and 14 wounded in separate bomb attacks in Iraq's southern cities of Basra and Nassriyah on Sunday, an Interior Ministry source said.
One of the attacks occurred in the city of Nassriyah, some 375 km south of Baghdad, when two roadside bombs went off almost simultaneously in a main street in the central part of the city, killing four people and wounding six others, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
The blast took place close to the French consular in Nassriyah, the source said without giving further details.
A second attack occurred in the city of Basra, some 550 km south of Baghdad, when a car bomb went off at a busy marketplace in the al-Qiblah district in the central part of the city, killing at least two people and wounding eight others, the source said.
The explosions were part of a series of bomb attacks that hit several cities across the country, killing and wounding dozens of people.
