Afghan police kill 12 Taliban militants

KABUL - Afghan police have killed a dozen Taliban militants during a host of operations across the country over the past 24 hours, the Interior Ministry said in a statement released here Sunday.
"Units of police force during operations conducted in Kunar, Nangarhar, Kapisa, Laghman, Kunduz, Jowzjan, Kandahar, Paktiya, Herat and Helmand provinces over the past 24 hours have left 12 Taliban rebels dead," said the statement.
Nine more Taliban were injured and 28 others have been arrested, the statement added, without mentioning the possible casualties on the police personnel.
Taliban militants fighting the government are yet to make comment.
