In a hole in the ground there lived a Hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, it was a Hobbit hole and that means comfort.

With J.R.R Tolkien's words in mind a Montana firm has created a hotel with all the pastoral comforts of The Shire. The rustic dwellings, featuring cozy rooms tucked into wooden fittings with round doors, are the only place in the US to find such a venue.

The 20-acre resort, inspired by Lord of the Rings, is described as an "enchanted private retreat, for adults only" with all mod cons as well as country charm.

"It is a plethora of hobbit homes, fairy doors, small fairy villages and props from the movie including Gandalf's hat and staff," said spokesman Steve Michaels. However there can only be one Bilbo Baggins house: "If visitors want to stay there they may need to book in advance," he added.
