Liberland, created by a 31-year-old Czech politician on April 13 is a self-proclaimed country located between Croatia and Serbia. About 250,000 people have applied for citizenship in less than two weeks, according to Czech media reports.
Vit Jedlicka, from the liberal right-wing Free Citizens Party, asserted his right over three square miles of land near the River Danube, which had not been previously claimed, to create the new country, the Free Republic of Liberland.
Jedlicka has set up a website, created a flag, a coat of arms, a motto (To live and let live) and drawn up laws and a constitution, the Washington Post reports.
