Woman who hid newborn in drawer on murder charge
Kimberly Pappas, 25, from Michigan, United States put her baby in her desk drawer after giving birth in her office restroom.
Pappas allegedly used scissors to cut the umbilical cord of her newborn son and wrapped him in a plastic bag. She put the bag in her drawer and returned to work as though nothing had happened. A coworker called police after seeing blood in the restroom.
The baby was still warm when rescue personnel arrived. Mother and child were taken to a hospital where the boy was pronounced dead.
Although Pappas claimed to have had a miscarriage, doctors said the baby died from asphyxiation. She has been charged with murder.
