Pictures of Shanghai - Richmond, VA
Gong Jianhua (center), a San Francisco Bay Area photographer, discusses his works with Michael Taylor, chief curator of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Gong's exhibition Shanghai Passage: Longtang Photographs is running through Oct 3. The show, which displays 50 photographs that span from the end of the "cultural revolution" (1966-76) to Shanghai's resurgence as an global fi nancial hub, provides vivid access to the city's once-prominent semiprivate passages.
