Yu Rongguang is the son of the renowned Peking Opera artist Yu Mingkui. At the age of 11, he was enrolled in Fenglei Peking Opera Troupe to study Wu Sheng, a martial role in the opera. In 1982, Yu began his acting career in Hong Kong, and got fame for the title role in "Iron Monkey" along with Donnie Yen in 1993. He is also known for appearing in roles for films with Jackie Chan such as "New Police Story" and "The Myth."
