Wanda's Wang to build world's biggest film studio

Wang Jianlin, China's richest man, plans to build the world's biggest film studio in the eastern coastal city of Qingdao.

More than 60 Chinese and international movie stars, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Nicole Kidman, John Travolta and Zhnag Ziyi, attended the opening ceremony of Qingdao Oriental Movie Metropolis on Sunday where Wang unveiled a plan to invest 30 billion yuan (almost $5 billion) for the project.

Qingdao Oriental Movie Metropolis will consist of 20 studios, a movie theater, wax museum, exhibition center, yacht club, hotels and other cultural and tourist facilities. Expected to be completed in 2017, deals have been made for about 30 foreign movies a year to be shot at the park's studios and back lots. (Photo 2)

Medical practitioners attend medicine conference

Medical practitioners from all over the world attended the 10th World Congress of Chinese Medicine in Santa Clara, California.

More than 300 of the 800 Chinese medicine practitioners at the conference on Sunday were from China.

By the end of last year, China had exported more than $2.3 billion yuan ($376 million) worth of Chinese medicine to foreign countries, which represented a steady increase in recent years, said Jeffery Huang, the vice-secretary general of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies.

"In recent years, Chinese medicine has been playing an important role as a supplement to health service in the Western world," Li Zhenji, the former vice-director of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, told China Daily. (Photo 3)
