A picture of an Audi that was being hoisted to a rooftop in Lishui, Zhejiang province, has gone viral on the Internet with people making jokes online that it was because the city has too limited parking space.

A 96-year-old man in Jiangsu province recently announced to his family that he had a girlfriend who has moved into his local senior housing apartment.

Poison student

Authorities from Tsinghua University have contacted the parents of Zhu Ling over claims. The student was poisoned 19 years ago, Lawyer Li Chunguang said on his Weibo.

Zhu, an outstanding female student from Tsinghua University suffered from a mysterious illness, which was later diagnosed as thallium poisoning 19 years ago and has been paralyzed since. Her roommate, Sun Wei, was alleged to be the only one with access to the substance.

Golden 2014

The People's Bank of China will launch a set of limited edition coins on Oct 10 to mark 2014, the Chinese year of the Horse, which consists of nine golden coins and seven silver ones. The coins will be circulated from 18 to 120,000 pieces at maximum, with the most valuable one made of ten-kilograms of pure gold and a 100,000 yuan ($16,340) denomination, business.sohu reported.

China's Ministry of National Defense has denied US media reports that 60 percent of Chinese college students who applied to join the army failed to pass the physical examination. At a news conference, the source of the statistics was questioned, and a spokesman said the number of new soldiers recruited among college students has been on the rise, Chinanews.com reported.
