Hong Le, consul general of China in Chicago, attends the March 16 groundbreaking ceremony held by CRRC Sifang America for its rolling stock assembly plant in Chicago. The Chicago Transit Authority awarded CRRC Sifang a framework contract last year for the supply of up to 846 Series 7000 metro cars. As part of the contract, CRRC committed to assembling the cars in Chicago. The $100 million plant will employ around 170 workers and create 130 construction jobs.
