Groups of worshippers arrived at Guiyuan Temple in Wuhan, the capital of central China's Hubei province, on February 23, 2015, the fifth day of the Lunar New Year, to throw coins for good luck. Temple staff were seen donning hard hats to protect themselves from being hit by flying coins as visitors tried to toss them onto the roof of the Hall of the God of Wealth at the temple. The fifth day of the Chinese Lunar New Year marks the birthday of the God of Wealth, which worshippers welcome by lighting fireworks and traveling to temples to wish for a prosperous year.
