1990: Record tally of gold medals at the Asian Games
Chinese people celebrated throughout Beijing the 41st anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic comes amidst the 11th Asian Games.
While Chinese athletes are winning a record tally of gold medals at the Asian Games, the country's farmers are turning out a record grain harvest this year.
The main photo on this front page said farmers in Shangshui county, Henan Province, hang harvested corn to dry. The county had a record harvest this year from its 300,000 hectares of cornfields due to new agricultural technology.
"To ensure a good harvest next year, the government is preparing to buy all of this year's grain at subsidized prices," the report said.
