2011: Flying housing prices

Aspiring homebuyers are being stymied by a double whammy of rising prices and a dearth of affordable residences in China as the top story on the front page reported.

For those young people who are setting up families in big Chinese cities such as Shanghai, "the problem is that the housing price is not just climbing, but flying," according to the report.

Besides the housing prices, there seemed to be another thing for Chinese people to worry about - food safety.

On the right side of this front page, it said China has banned the production, sale and use of clenbuterol tablets, which are often illegally added to pig's feed.

Clenbuterol, an additive known as "lean meat powder", has been used by some farmers to speed up muscle building and fat-burning, resulting in leaner pork.
