With the magazine team, Kors chose five Chinese actresses-Yang Mi, Dilireba, Jiang Shuying, Ma Sichun and Xu Lu-and singer Jane Zhang Liangying. Fashion photographer Alexi Lubomirski took pictures of the six posed in New York and Shanghai wearing Michael Kors.
The photos were exhibited at Pace Beijing gallery for a week in late November. Visitors could feel like they'd zipped from Shanghai's Bund to Manhattan in a few seconds and sensed Michael Kors' "jet-set" spirit.
The photos are also featured in the December issue of Vogue China.
"I feel like a film director, casting. When we do a fashion show, I always tell people: 'It's not only about a fashion show. It's the right woman wearing the right clothes with the right music.' So it's like a film. The photography is the same. We cast according to their style and personalities, whether it's more bohemian, or more glamorous or more casual. I feel like Fellini, casting lots of women," he says, laughing.
"The most interesting thing about youth is possibility. What can happen in life, for these six young women-it's what will happen in their careers. They all have style, talent, creativity, so anything is possible."
The women all say they enjoyed working with Kors.
