Suspects in building explosion sentenced

Three suspects in a residential building explosion in Baoding city were sentenced on Wednesday.
The principal suspect, Ge Jinshui, was sentenced to death.
Ge and his two partners made thousands of detonators in three apartments since 2011 in Baoding, Hebei province. Ge acted as the leader, providing materials and rooms for detonators and splitting the benefits among them.
His partners were killed in an explosion on Oct 6 after a detonator they were working on blew up in an apartment building. The blast also killed 10 residents and wounded 28. The economic loss from the explosion was estimated at 16.7 million yuan ($2.7 million).
Based on Criminal Law, Ge was sentenced to death on Wednesday and one of their major buyers who purchased more than 8,000 detonators was sentenced to 10 years in jail. In addition, Wang Fang, who rented his apartment to them, received five years in prison.
