Qing Jiang (left) and Louisa Huang perform as Prince and Princess Chai in the Chinese opera classic Princess Chai and Her General. The story takes place during Song Dynasty (960-1279), based on a romance between General Yang and Princess Chai. Too shy to tell the general she loves him, the princess asks Yang to take her pearl shirt to the emperor to signal that he was chosen as her future husband. The story ends happily with the help of the country's best scholar, who played royal matchmaker for the lovers. The show was produced by DC Beauty of Beijing Opera Ltd at Montgomery College in Silver Spring, Maryland, on April 23. Allan Fong / For China Daily
