LDP wins majority in Japan's election

TOKYO - Japan's Liberal Democratic Party ( LDP) won a majority in the general election held on Sunday, Japan's broadcaster NHK reported.

The NHK said in its exit poll that the LDP headed by former prime minister Shinzo Abe won a majority in the house.

The LDP and its ally, the new Komeito Party, will together secure about 320 seats in the 480-seat lower house, it said.
