Jakarta in Indonesia and Beijing have been sister cities for several years. Last week, the deputy Governor of Jakarta, Sylviana Murni, came to Beijing to attend the World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF)'s two-day tourism summit.

During her interview with chinadaily.com.cn, she was excited to list a wide variety of similarities between China and Indonesia, including culture, food, traditional costumes and education.

"In the 17th and 18th centuries, Chinese people came to Indonesia, and influenced many aspects of people's lives there, especially in Jakarta." She said.
